Transforming the Cultural Heart of Guiyang

Located at the intersection of the Nanming and Shixi Rivers, the Guiyang Riverside Regeneration Masterplan is set to become a beacon of cultural and urban transformation. Positioned just across from People Square, this expansive development spans 14.38 hectares and will redefine the cultural and social landscape of Guiyang. The development focuses on creating a dynamic and diverse city quarter, with cultural activities at its heart.

A Mixed-Use Cultural Hub

The Guiyang Riverside Regeneration Masterplan is designed as a mixed-use complex that integrates culture, residential, retail, and commercial spaces. At the core of the masterplan lies the new Guiyang Concert and Theatre Hall, envisioned as the city’s cultural heart. This striking venue will host a variety of cultural events, showcasing Guizhou’s rich folk traditions and elevating the city’s cultural prominence.

Architectural Design Focused on Connectivity

CLOU architects have designed the podium of the project to facilitate pedestrian movement across the site, prioritising public circulation and community spaces. The podium, which forms the base of the development, includes a series of connected plazas that act as cultural event spaces, fostering a sense of openness and connectivity. These public spaces will create a vibrant, welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.

Vertical Expansion: A New Skyline for Guiyang

Rising above the podium are five towers ranging from 250 to 400 meters, dramatically transforming the city skyline. These towers will house a mix of residential, commercial, and hotel spaces, contributing to the dynamic growth of Guiyang’s urban environment. The elevated structures are designed to complement the site’s existing riverside location while providing sweeping views of the city and surrounding landscape.

Cultural Event Spaces: A City for the People

The masterplan includes several cultural event spaces strategically located throughout the development. These spaces will be seamlessly integrated into the urban fabric, with each plaza carved from the podium to create a chain of accessible cultural hubs. From outdoor performances to exhibitions, these public spaces will offer a platform for both local and international cultural activities, fostering a vibrant community atmosphere.

A Sustainable Future for Guiyang

Incorporating green and sustainable elements, the project aligns with Guiyang’s goals for ecological urban development. The mix of green spaces, pedestrian-friendly areas, and public event venues will contribute to the creation of a modern, livable city that promotes both social interaction and environmental sustainability.

Strengthening Guiyang’s Cultural Identity

As the cultural hub of Guizhou province, Guiyang plays a key role in preserving and promoting the region’s rich cultural heritage. The Guiyang Riverside Regeneration Masterplan will reinforce the city’s position as a cultural powerhouse, attracting both tourists and talent from across the globe. It will be a destination that celebrates Guizhou’s cultural diversity, heritage, and future potential.

A New Era for Guiyang

This ambitious masterplan is set to usher in a new era for Guiyang, enhancing the city’s cultural vitality and creating a vibrant, interconnected urban quarter. The development will serve as a catalyst for future urban projects and will play a pivotal role in shaping Guiyang’s cultural and economic future.
